Maintenance Tips for Peak Season

As the first half of the season comes to an end and the real rush of summer bookings begins, there is no time like the present for a mid-season refresh! Whether your tents have endured minor dirt, unpleasant odors, or more stubborn issues like mildew, if your tents have been up for three or more months, it's time to give them some love.

  1. Regular Cleaning:

    • Exterior: Gently wash the tent fabric with a mild soap and water solution. Avoid harsh chemicals to preserve the tent material, and instead use our recommended cleaning brand, Nikwax, which currently have 10% with code 'MIDSZN1O'.
    • Interior: Sweep out debris, and spot clean any stains on the groundsheet and inner walls. Remember to air out your tents whenever possible to keep the space ventilated and odour-free.

  2. Inspect for Damage:

    • Seams and Zippers: Check for any tears or loose threads, and repair them promptly to prevent further damage. Don't forget, we carefully packed your tent with a spares bag, make use of the savvy items in this kit!
    • Poles and Pegs: Ensure all structural components are in good condition. Replace any bent or broken poles and pegs.

  3. Waterproofing:

  4. Ventilation:

    • Make sure all ventilation points are unobstructed to prevent condensation build-up inside the tent, ensuring a fresh and pleasant environment for your guests.   5. Pest Control:

    • Regularly check for signs of pests and take preventive measures, such as using insect repellent sprays and sealing any small openings. Due to the nature of the locations our tents find themselves pitched in, mice, frogs, foxes and other animals can find their ways to nested beneath the tents, often biting through the groundsheet.
