Good idea in principle, but fiddly to put up and poles kept offsetting from sides of tent.
Space inside bell tent was much better though and easier to place bed, stove etc.

A great modification for using a Bell Tent.

Order arrived within a few days. This is far better than the central pole as it gives more space in the 3 m bell tent.

This is SOLID and definitely a plus if you care to do away with the center pole on your bell tent. Two growing kids, two adults and a dog warranted me to give this a try--a little more real estate in the tent now!

This has transformed our camping experience by freeing up the centre of the tent for sleeping and eating. Furthermore, combined with a fly sheet and a removable ground sheet (zipped) it allowed the packing away of the bell tent and ground sheet whist under the protective rain cover of the fly sheet. This was possible by lowering the tripod by bending the three poles at the knees and the pulling the tent from below the fly sheet, after unpegging the tent and separating the tent from the ground sheet. The poles can the be returned to their full height to allow the tent and ground sheet to be folded away whilst under the protective cover of the fly sheet.

The central pole supplied with the tent is far less intrusive than I expected, and acts (used gently) as a handy aid to getting up off the floor. 2 of us can sleep in the tent side by side without the central pole being and issue, so I have not used the tripod. The tripod components look well made and sturdy, but I don’t expect it will really be necessary for our purposes. I’ll hang onto it just in case, rather than go through the palaver of returns. I would suggest trying your tent as is, and then ordering a tripod later if you feel it would be a benefit to you.
