THE PERFECT PLOT
Before setting up camp, to achieve maximum camper comfortability and tent protection, there are a few guidelines we advise you to follow...
ACHIEVING PITCH PERFECTION
The handy instruction manual, included with your tent, will detail the steps to getting your tent effortlessly erected. But, here are some extra top tips on achieving the ultimate perfect pitch to ensure your tent retains maximum longevity!
first time leaks
Our tents are treated with a water repelling agent which encourages water to bead off the fabric. However, if your canvas tent is new or has been in storage, there is a small chance that on the first wet adventure you could notice some (very) small leaks.
To avoid this, some like to 'weather' their tents prior to their adventure; a simple process which will close any tiny holes in the tent, ensuring the fabric is watertight. Although, this is not a compulsory process.
RECOMMENDED PROTECTIVE GEAR
recommended daily to dos
A proactive and well-tended TLC routine will prevent the risk of any damage and deterioration to your tents' fabric and structural elements. If you want to maximise your tents' life span, remember that prevention is always better (and easier!) than cure. The recommended tips below combined together will help to maintain retain breathability, water resistancy and overall resilience.
camping in extreme weather
It's important that you, your camping companions, and your tent endure endless uninterrupted and safe camping adventures! In testing weather, pitching precautions are vital. If winds are expected to exceed speeds of 40mph, we highly advise that you reassess your trip & If snowfall is expected to exceed 1ft we recommend temporarily taking down your tent, as the weight of any snow gathered on the tent walls & roof could cause fabric & structural damage. Boutique Camping are not responsible for damage transpired from hostile environments and conditions.

why reproof your tent?
Patches on your tent? Is your tent losing it's breathability? Is rain not beading away properly anymore? You probably need to reproof! A simple process which revitalises the fabric water repellency and increases breathability.
tackling mould and mildew
Caused by a lack of ventilation, trapped moisture can cause mildew, which in turn can spread and result in the formation mould. Once mould has inpregnated the fabric, in some cases, it can be imossible to remove. So we urge you to follow our daily TLC to avoid this.
pack down and storage
Only pack away your tent once it's BONE DRY. Alternatively, you can hang your tent to dry within 48 hours of it being packed into the tent bag. Unzipping and hanging the groundsheet seperately will speed up the drying process.
